Jean-Marie Arnon
After beginning his professional life as a lumberjack – a five-year period of his life during which he claims to have formulated most of the themes that still feed his teeming world – Jean-Marie Arnon became a full-time comics artist at the beginning of the 90s. He created the cult prehistoric-rock ’n’ roll series Dinosaur Bop for publisher Zenda: four volumes with Zenda, a fifth with Albin Michel, and, finally, the series’ sixth episode Notre Dame de la Taîga, coming soon from Inanna Editions. He worked at comics magazine L’Echo des Savanes for a long time, where he published Les Furies, a wild female pirate saga that many hope will return someday. It was followed by L’Invasion, a science-fiction story set in the electro music world. He then developed the series Je suis une sorcière, the adventures of a sexy, provocative witch-in-training battling very modern demons (two volumes with Albin Michel, one with Organic Comix); the fourth episode, Pandaemonia, was published in August 2013 by Inanna Editions. Still drawn to sci-fi and prehistory, he published Megasauria, the sequel of which is now in production, with Organic Comix, and then Spacebaby, a one-shot homage to “spaced-out” comics of the 70s, with publisher Cinefil.
